Step 1 – Anesthesia
Step 2 – The incision
Step 3 – Closing the incisions
Your surgeon will create incisions to remove most of the skin and fat between your bellybutton and pubic hair in a horizontal oval or elliptical shape. The fascia, that overlies the abdominal muscles, will be tightened with permanent sutures.Your cosmetic surgeon can then reposition the skin around your umbilicus. Your bellybutton will be brought out through a tiny incision and sutured in its normal position. The incision from hip to hip above the pubic hair will be stitched along and will leave a scar that falls on the natural crease within the bathing suit line.
During the procedure you would be given an antibiotic to prevent infection.
The procedure typically takes about three hours.
